Day 4 & 5 Quinn

Day # 4

Nous avons quitté Paris vers 9h 30 

Pour nous rendre à Villefranche-sur-Saône. Après deux heures de route nous nous sommes arrêtés sur une aire de repos pour déjeuner. Puis, quatre heures plus tard, nous sommes arrivés dans la vile pittoresque de Villefranche où nous avons rencontré nos correspondants pour la première fois à Mongré et nous avons passé notre première nuit avec nos familles d'accueil.

On the fourth day of the trip we left our hotel in Paris at 9 o'clock for Villefranche-sur-Saône. After 2 hours of driving in the bus, we stopped to eat some lunch (outside with beautiful weather) and then drove 2 more hours before reaching the quaint town of Villefranche. All of the American students met their french correspondents at their school, called Mongré, and we spent our first night with our host families.

Day # 5

Le cinquième jour du voyage, nous avons  assisté aux classes avec nos correspondants. J'ai assisté à la classe de mathématiques et au cours d'anglais; l'anglais est ma matière préférée parce que j'ai parlé seulement français avec mon correspondant! Après les cours, nous avons eu un merveilleux tour de Mongré, déjeuné à la cafétéria, et ensuite nous sommes allés au centre de Villefranche pour rencontrer le maire et le maire adjoint. Ils ont expliqué l'histoire de la ville et nous ont offert des brioches et des boissons, et Ils ont même donné à chacun de nous un livre sur l'histoire de la ville. Après que nous avons visité l'hôtel de ville, nous sommes allés sur la route principale de Villefranche où nous avons eu du temps libre et avons fait du shopping. Enfin, nous sommes retournés à Mongré à pied et nous sommes rentrés chez nos familles d'accueil.

On the fifth day of the trip, we went to classes with our correspondents. I had math class and english class; english was my favorite because I have been speaking only in french with my correspondent! After classes, we had a wonderful tour of Mongré, ate lunch in the cafeteria, and then walked to the center of Villefranche to meet the mayor and his assistant. They explained the history of the city, offered traditional french bread and drinks, and even gave us each a book about the history of the city. After we visited the town hall, we went to the main road of Villefranche to have some free time and shop around. Finally, we returned to Mongré on foot and went home to our host families.

Day # 3 Madison, Sophia and Lily

Ce matin il faisait beau. Nous avons fait une promenade dans les petites rues du Quartier Latin. Ensuite, nous avons vu la Sorbonne, l’université prestigieuse de Paris. Nous nous sommes ensuite promenées dans le Jardin du Luxembourg. C’était très agréable et le jardin était immense. Puis, nous avons visité les Champs-Elysées. Nous y avons passé une partie de l’après-midi. Nous avons acheté des macarons de chez Ladurée et nous avons vu l’Arc de Triomphe! Ensuite, nous avons visité Le Château de Versailles. Nous avons vu les chambres du roi et de la reine, la galerie des glaces et les beaux jardins d’André Le Nôtre qui a aménagé les jardins du roi Louis XIV. C’était tellement beau et si extravagant! Le soir, nous avons pris un bateau-mouche sur la Seine et nous avons vu tous les monuments de Paris. La Tour Eiffel illuminée était très belle la nuit. C’était une journée trés longue mais inoubliable. Nous avons hâte de rencontrer nos correspondants demain à Villefranche!

Today the weather was beautiful. In the morning we took a walk along some cute streets in the Latin Quarter and took pictures in front of La Sorbonne, the prestigious university of Paris. Then, we visited the Luxembourg. The garden was huge and very pretty! Then we went to the Champs-Elysées where we spent part of the afternoon. We shopped and ate "macarons" at Ladurée. Then we saw the Arc de Triomphe. After, we visited Versailles. We saw the King's and Queen's chambers and gardens and we ate ice cream. It was beautiful and extravagant. In the night, we took a boat tour on the Seine River. We saw all of the monuments of Paris. The Eiffel Tower was illuminated and looked beautiful during the night. It was a long day but an unforgettable one. We are excited and nervous to meet out correspondents tomorrow!

Day #2 Sydney, Michelle, Katie, Juliana

Le premier jour à Paris, nous sommes allées à la Cathédrale Notre-Dame. Il faisait très beau et le soleil brillait. Nous avons pris beaucoup de photos. Après, nous sommes allées à la place des Vosges où nous avons déjeuné. L’après-midi, nous avons vu la Joconde au musée du Louvre. Elle était très belle. Beaucoup de gens ont pris des photos du tableau. Nous avons dîné au Relais Odeon. La nourriture était délicieuse. Ensuite, Nous avons pris le bus pour aller à la Tour Eiffel dont les lumières scintillaient dans la nuit. La vue était magnifique.

The first day in Paris, we went to the Cathédrale Notre-Dame. It was so pretty outside and the sun was shining. We took tons of photos. After, we went to the Place des Vosges where we ate lunch. In the afternoon, we saw the Mona Lisa at the Louvre Museum. The painting was very beautiful. A lot of people took pictures of the painting and were crowded around it. We ate dinner at the Relais Odeon restaurant. The food was delicious. After, we took the bus to the Eiffel Tower. The lights on the tower twinkled. The view was so pretty.

We are all bonding and having an awesome time. We are excited to spend the last day in Paris tomorrow before going to Villefranche-sur-Saône and meeting our French correspondents.

Day #1 - Madeleine

Bonjour! Aujourd'hui nous avons commencé notre voyage en France. Nous sommes arrivés à l'aéroport de Philadelphie à huit heures et nous avons dit "au revoir" à nos parents. Nous avons passé du temps à l'aéroport et  nous sommes partis à l'heure. Certaines personnes ont dormi (j'ai dormi tout le temps), mais toutes les personnes étaient fatiguées quand nous sommes arrivées en Angleterre.

We had 5 hours in the Heathrow airport to get coffee (thankfully) and lunch (the Heathrow airport has a lot to offer), and the time passed fairly quickly. Soon we were on the short flight to France, and we landed in Paris surprisingly quickly. The trip through customs at Charles de Gaulle was a blur, and by the time we got onto the bus I know I was exhausted. The bus ride through Paris at night was beautiful, with the street lamps lighting up the sights of Paris. Around 8:00 pm, exactly 24 hours after we arrived at the Philadelphia airport (if you ignore the time difference) we made it to our Parisian hotel - incredibly ready to go to sleep. I know I can't wait to visit the museums of Paris, and in 2 short days we will be with our host families!
